Fundamental Modeling The APMonitor Modeling Language includes a set of predefined models. These include: Chemical reactor Compressor Distillation column Distillation stage Flash column Heat exchanger Lobotto collocation for DAE to NLP conversion PID (Proportional, Integral, Derivative) Controller Pipe stream Polymer reactor Split stream State space model Stream lag Variable lag Vessel Each model is contained in a separate module as an object. More advanced models are constructed by combining basic models in an object-oriented framework. These advanced models of process units can be combined into plant-wide models. Although the modeling package is currently designed for chemical engineering applications, the approach is general to allow for modeling of any process described by differential and algebraic equations.
